Establishing my Blog!

          Hello, my name is Lucia Rodriguez and I am currently a sophomore in high school! I am looking forward to sharing my experiences in this media studies class throughout the year. I am an avid watcher of many television series and movies, so I am excited to learn about what goes on behind the scenes. I chose this class because I wanted to get involved in some filming processes and witness the media come to life. I hope to gain a better understanding of the efforts put into producing these shows. This class gives me the opportunity to bond with my classmates over this mutual interest and discuss how these industries work. Something that stood out to me was the amount of time and effort put into creating these different forms of media. With this class, I will likely be able to understand the difficulty and lengthy processes that these industries have to go through a little bit better. When we had to create a PowerPoint defining media studies terms I found myself feeling overwhelmed due to the abundant information I was receiving at once. There were many elements that I normally would not notice or think twice about, such as the different camera angles, soundtracks, and many other things. I enjoyed finding different examples for each term and it had me thinking about how beautiful things look when they are put together. The beauty of this class is that it helps you notice and analyze things from a different perspective. In all honesty, if I was not taking this class I would overlook all these small elements and just focus on the main thing that they are trying to portray. It is rewarding to see every small step that contributed to the final product because you feel a more personal connection with the product. I want to be able to produce media that is visually appealing, organized, and well put together so my viewers can enjoy it. Another aspect that I have given a lot of thought to is the creative process that these directors have to go through in order to make their visions come to life. I am not familiar with writing storyboards or dialogue yet but I find it fascinating that you can portray your thoughts visually. I hope that I can work with people that bring out my creative side and allow me to come up with more ideas as I work. The biggest takeaway from this class is my growing appreciation for media and how it plays a big role in my everyday life. Through media, I am able to get informed and entertained throughout my day which has helped me form my own opinions on things. I will strive to be productive in each class and learn something new so by the end of the year I can look at different forms of media and have a deeper understanding of them.

Our Pitch Blog

A girl is one of few to survive the zombie apocalypse. She runs into another non-infected human and they have to get through together. Our first pitch is unique from the commonly chosen ideas. It would help in showing off creativity and originality. While also providing a well-thought-out and evolved finished project. Although the mis-en-scene would be difficult to accomplish for any of the scenes. Zombie make-up and attire would have to research, bought, and learned. Plus the fact that none of us leave in an area that would suit this project whether that be a woods or generally dark area. It emphasizes the idea that this girl is one of the few, which would force us to need backup actors to play the zombies. Not only would we have to find multiple actors for only a few scenes, but we would also have to work around their schedule and pay extra supplies for their make-up and costume. Film Review

 The project is almost finished after a month of filming, re-filming, and editing. We are relieved and thankful that this project is nearly completed. The entire process of creating the video was enjoyable for us. Although some aspects, such as filming, were more challenging. The initial planning, storyboarding, and filming, in our opinion, were the best parts of the entire endeavor. Everyone was allowed to express their innovative thoughts here, and we all knew what to do. The editing process, on the other hand, was not as simple. Unfortunately, only one of our team members was capable of editing and assembling the music video. The rest of us had no choice but to sit and watch what our groupmate were doing. It appears that certain scenes will need to be reshot. It will need to be altered, whether because of the length of the lighting. The transitions in the editing must be examined and re-examined. I'm sure there are other alternatives that would better suit the film's story....
