Music Video Blog

I am very proud to announce that my team and I have finally finished our Music Videos for the song "Good Days" by SZA! This has been a time-consuming process that took a lot of energy from my group and me. We did not expect this project to be easy, and there were definitely a couple of bumps in the road, but it wasn't anything we couldn't handle. I genuinely enjoyed seeing our vision come to life with the different elements each team member contributed. I had fun during the filming process and I can definitely say that was my favorite part because I was the most involved. The most difficult part of this project was the editing process because that is where we faced the most trial and error. I felt that we were able to portray a happy and overall carefree vibe with the actors which went well with the lyrics. Working with this group for a second time made me realize how reliable everyone is which helped me be at ease during this project. I would definitely pick the s

Wrapping up our editing!

Image
Hello everyone, as you guys may know, today is our second and hopefully last day of editing! We have been faced with an unexpected problem that extended our editing process. Unfortunately, we had taken too much footage and it did not correlate with the storyboard. We had taken this extra footage to include new scenes but it exceeded the time limit and caused our video to not match up with the storyboard. The obvious solution to this was to get rid of these scenes, but we felt like it added to our video. So, I suggested that we shorten some clips so we could make room for an extra scene. Our editor Jacob agreed with my idea and cut some clips short so that the extra scene could make the final cut. I wanted to keep our clips in chronological order because it helps build up the excitement and the viewers basically watch the day progress. We ended up cutting more scenes that were not crucial to the main story and changing some things from the storyboard. I realized that we overestimated ho

The editing begins!

Hello everyone, after gathering all of our footage over the span of two days we are ready to start editing! We are using iMovie for this music video because it worked smoothly for our previous project. This software is easy to navigate and allows us to simply drag the videos and compile them quickly. I am not much of an editor, so this software was perfect because it explains things thoroughly and includes suggestions as you are working. The designated editor for our group was Jacob, so he was the person in charge of the main tasks regarding the editing. We did not want all of the stress to fall on him so we offered our advice and input as he was editing. To start, we had to download our song "Good Days" onto his computer so we could put it over the videos. All of the footage was taken on my phone so I airdropped everything to Jacob's computer and helped him sort through each shot. I got our storyboard from our folder and compared it to the footage so they could match eac

The filming continues!

Hello everyone, as I mentioned in the previous blog, we still had to discuss if extra footage was necessary. Unfortunately, we did not have a sufficient amount of footage and needed another day to film. Luckily, we were prepared for something like this and created a backup plan. Our plan was to wrap up the shots we were missing, but this did have a couple complications. I did not think about how we would make it look like the same day, and we needed to keep the same clothes for visual effect. Eventually, I figured it out and we wore similar clothes to the ones we used during the first day of filming. After reviewing the footage I noticed that we were not properly displaying the emotions that would help set the mood for the video. I suggested that we all try to act happier than we did during the first day of filming so it could fit the "Good Days" vibes we wanted to achieve. Another group member suggested they film the three actors getting on the ride so they can get a broader

Filming at the fair!

Image
Our group finally began the first day of filming today! The location of choice for our commercial was the fair, which presented a couple challenges that we anticipated. As the filming started, we recognized that we could get some great shots outside of the fair because there were fewer people which made things look cleaner and organized. My team members suggested that we include an extra scene because it would help build anticipation. One scene that they suggested was of a friend group that included three actors looking at the fair from the fair's parking lot.  The colorful lights coming from the rides along with attractions such as the Ferris wheel looked aesthetically pleasing. This scene contributed to the group's building-up excitement towards the fair. This extra scene did take up a bit of time because we had to redo it a couple of times, and it was not in our original plan. This was not an issue for us because we arrived early to avoid feeling rushed and missing great sho
