The editing begins!

Hello everyone, after gathering all of our footage over the span of two days we are ready to start editing! We are using iMovie for this music video because it worked smoothly for our previous project. This software is easy to navigate and allows us to simply drag the videos and compile them quickly. I am not much of an editor, so this software was perfect because it explains things thoroughly and includes suggestions as you are working. The designated editor for our group was Jacob, so he was the person in charge of the main tasks regarding the editing. We did not want all of the stress to fall on him so we offered our advice and input as he was editing. To start, we had to download our song "Good Days" onto his computer so we could put it over the videos. All of the footage was taken on my phone so I airdropped everything to Jacob's computer and helped him sort through each shot. I got our storyboard from our folder and compared it to the footage so they could match each other. Since we decided to add some scenes during filming, it would not be exactly the same but it was still similar. Our first scene was the group of friends entering the car, so Jacob watched the footage we got for this scene. He realized that a common action that would have to be taken would be cutting clips short because we overestimated how much footage we needed for specific scenes and ended up filming for too long. Since I airdropped the videos to his computer and helped him organize them in chronological order, putting everything together was simple since it was already in order. I worked on helping Jacob cut the footage to the appropriate size along with dragging and dropping them with the software. I noticed that we had an excess amount of footage that looked repetitive in the video, so I cut it out and tried to keep things as intriguing as possible. Our goal was to engage our viewers and show them a group of friends having a good time at the fair. If our shots became too similar, they would look boring and potentially make viewers lose interest and focus on the video. This was an issue that did not take long to fix because everyone had a good eye and took out anything that stopped the flow of the video we were trying to maintain. I wanted us to be thorough with the editing so we decided to stop editing for today and finish everything tomorrow. We are one step closer to achieving a completed music video, and I am excited for you all to see the finished product!
