Hello, I wanted to take some time to reflect and answer a couple of questions! A convention is a way in which something is usually done, within a particular area or activity. Apple states that its mission is to bring the best user experience to its customers through its innovative hardware, software, and services. Apple has challenged conventions in the technology field by promoting diversity in their commercials alongside their products. Many companies prefer to focus solely on their product and disregard anything that could take attention away from it. Apple has stated that they are making an effort to become “a better reflection of the world we live in.” According to the data, the number of Apple employees from underrepresented communities (URCs) has increased by 64%, or over 18,000 people, and makes up nearly 50% of Apple's U.S. workforce. Macbooks engage with audiences by being presented as a useful tool fit for everyone. Workers and students alike are the main target audiences because they need durable computers to help them with assignments. There are many benefits, and it is easier to narrow down your search quickly with a Mac because you can be confident, you're receiving a well-made and well-respected product. Macs have a ton of wonderful software you'd have to buy separately on a PC. Apple advertises its products in commercials and print ads, emphasizing how its products differ from those of competitors. When a product is first launched, commercial commercials run, and print ads run for the duration of the product's existence. Apple keeps fans interested and alerts them about new offerings. My production skills were able to develop tremendously throughout this project because I was given a lot of creative freedom. As we were filming our project, I found myself being strict on perfecting and paying attention to detail. I wanted our storyboard to be depicted accurately so I was picky about all of the shots we got. My critical thinking skills were also enhanced during this project when we were faced with issues during our editing and filming process. I had to adapt quickly and resolve these issues without hesitation. My communication skills improved significantly because I had to voice any issues I had with my team. It was important for us to listen to each other so we could give each other constructive criticism. We used the iMovie software to produce this commercial, which was not much of a difficult task. We experimented with different editing methods and tried to see what style would fit best with our commercial. There were many things of importance that would significantly change the final product during the editing process. We had to choose a song, combine footage, delete scenes, edit the footage so it can flow, and adding extra details towards the end. My teammates and I all worked together to pick out the best footage and decide what looked best. It was a very time-consuming process since we are perfectionists, but all of the final edits brought our vision to life. Our commercial came out great and I couldn’t be prouder!
