Filming our thriller!

We were able to start recording for our short film today! It was difficult finding a time that worked for everyone, but we were finally able to agree on a day after many scheduling errors. We only had 2 hours to film today because each team member had to be picked up by 5:30. Some may have seen this as a setback, but I feel like this allowed us to be more productive and work efficiently because of the timer. We organized ourselves and created a schedule that helped us get things done in an orderly manner. It had rained earlier in the day before we got to the location of the film which was a park near my home and the surrounding neighborhood. We quickly adapted to this change and took advantage of the gloomy effect the rain gave off. I was an actor in this film, and I was pretty excited about that because I have consistently been an actor for all of our projects. I was kind of nervous that I would mess up because we haven't filmed in a while but my groupmates were encouraging and I felt myself grow more confident as the filming went on. I kept forgetting my lines but I eventually got them after going over them briefly with a group member. An issue we had while filming at the park was other people accidentally getting in our shots but it was something we had to workaround. We strategically placed ourselves further from the people so they would not appear and were able to film like this for the majority of the time. As we were filming, our creativity kept growing and we changed some minor details in the script that made the film better. I also noticed that my groupmate and I improvised a lot throughout the film because we wanted to fill in blanks that weren't thought about while the storyboard was being made. I felt proud of my group because as we were filming everyone kept getting ideas and communicating them clearly with each other which was a big factor for quality shots. We used my phone to film and I borrowed my brother's tripod which ended up improving our shots so much more. Our camera person Kai did an amazing job at directing us and giving us instructions throughout the entire process. Everyone compliments each other nicely because we are able to help each other out and make sure everyone is on the right track. Getting the footage and quickly looking over it made me excited for the editing process because there were a lot of things to combine and fix. Overall, we had a really productive filming day and we were able to get a majority of the important footage!
